Trendy pizza spot located in the Shaw neighborhood in Washington DC. Very nice bar area and table setting. The Caesar salad had a good taste and fresh. Definitely recommend the Deluxe pizza, fresh mushrooms, peppers, and Italian sausage.

Went to the Shaw location and was served by David. Such great service and food. I’ve been to other locations and the pizza is consistently amazing. Lifechanging pizza and garlic cheese bread.

Update November 2024: Pre-thanksgiving dinner and Emmy squared is as delicious as ever. We had big Ang and the colony one. Both are fantastic. Don’t question the price, enjoy the food. Update October 2024: The pizza is still amazing and the flavors are fantastic. But I wanted to lower the review from five stars to four because the last two times we ordered the pepperoni pizza they did not include many pepperonis. I didn’t but I should have. The photos on the menu and the first time we ordered it was loaded. Now it is scarce and not as described. Still delicious, but not as much pepperoni as you’re going to be expecting based on the menu photos. Original: The pizza is exactly what you want from Detroit style. Crispy edges and a sauce with a huge kick. They are very strong on the pepper (like salt and pepper, not spicy), but really buttery in the crust so it somehow balances. But the pepper is strong. The honey and jalapeno one is good. No overwhelming flavors so you taste a bit of everything. Zero spice on the jalapeno heat level. Great Detroit style pizza, I’d order again. We did the signature pepperoni and the pepperoni with honey and jalapeno. I wanted to do the mushroom with truffle but my friend cannot handle cream.

Lovely, vibey spot for some great, hearty Detroit-style pizza and a fun, lively dining experience! I dropped by Emmy Squared for a late Sunday lunch with a friend, and the place was relatively empty (which makes sense for 3 PM on a Sunday). We were immediately seated in a cute little booth by the window, which was a great place to soak in a bit of Vitamin D and enjoy people watching along Florida Ave. My friend and I split the classic margherita pizza, which was delightful. I'm typically not the world's biggest pizza fan -- much less Detroit-style pizza -- but this was really well done. The dough was robust but a little springy, almost like focaccia, and there was a generous helping of gooey melted cheese and tomato sauce on every slice. The sauce was the perfect balance of savory, tart, and very slightly sweet, the cheese was nicely broiled, and I love that they added a piece of basil to every piece to give it a small bit of freshness. One pizza was the perfect amount of food for the two of us, and it was super reasonably priced -- it's rare to get a good meal in DC for less than 15 per person. If you come with a group of three, I also think that splitting one pizza and one salad would go well too. Overall, great experience and super tasty meal! Can't wait to come back and try more of their 'zas.

Good sized bar with tv’s and indoor seating area’s large with booth and chair seating. Service was great and timely. Now I took some time before writing this just to ensure I wasn’t overreacting. Easily a top 3 pizza I’ve ever eaten and the best Detroit style I’ve ever had. I went with the colony, which had pepperoni, house pickled jalapenos, and honey. Each bite was sensational. The crunch, sweetness and flavor of the crust, the bite of the jalapenos, savory, crunchy pepperonis. Sauce ratio was perfect, and had a great tanginess to it. I would travel back to DC from Dallas to eat this pizza, it was that good.

In a part of DC that has lots of great pizza parlors, this is definitely one of the best. Their crust is sublime and toppings are generous. The gluten free crust is a particular standout. My wife eats gluten free and out of the 5 pizza places we've tried in DC this is the only one whose gf crust she has complimented and considered better than her homemade crust. The crust, whether gf or wheat, is fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside, making the whole thing so much better than the normal cracker texture. Our server David was kind, funny, and worked with our dietary restrictions - and even remembered us afterwards! Well worth the price and we will definitely be going back again.

I got the cheesy garlic bread as my meal, and my partner got the roni, and both were phenomenal! The food came out super quick, and the service was great too! Highly recommend!

This restaurant is a must-visit for food lovers, especially if you’re craving top-tier comfort food. Their pizza is nothing short of phenomenal — featuring Detroit style dough that’s perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, topped with a rich, house-made sauce and a generous layer of premium, melted cheeses. Whether you go for a classic or a bold, loaded meat-lovers custom each pizza is bursting with flavor and crafted with care. Not to be outdone, their burgers are equally impressive — thick, juicy patties made from high-quality beef, cooked to perfection, and served on fresh, pretzel buns. The flavor combinations are creative yet satisfying, from smoky bacon and white cheddar to tangy pickles and zesty house sauces. Each bite delivers the perfect balance of savory, juicy, and satisfying. Thank you to our awesome server Roger for the wonderful recommendations and PHENOMENAL service. Lastly...to Chef Jaito thank you for the from scratch experience! Because of you this is the only Emmy’s we will visit from now on. Everything was delicious and the Brownie Sundae Skillet...HOT...FRESH AND DELICIOUS!!
